Best Fran Weekend in Oklahoma

Hi Lovies!

I feel like I haven't been here in such a long time because I had scheduled both my Friday and Monday posts last week and then I didn't post yesterday. I think I might be addicted to blogging.. whoops. Anyways, I am not feeling well at all. I'm pretty sure I picked up a cold from my air plane travel as well as partying like there's no tomorrow but I need to get my trip recapped before I forget :)

Thursday

I left work at 12pm and went straight to the airport. I had decided not to check my bag and instead had the world's heaviest carry on which is not fun when the airport is huge. But somehow I managed! My bestie Alex picked me up and we headed to Tulsa where she lives with my other bestie Katie. They made dinner and then we got ready to go out to a bar called Treehouse to see a band that one of our friends from college is in. It was so much fun, until traveling/drinking caught up with me and I got sick and had to go home.. before midnight. I felt super lame!

Friday

I still wasn't feeling 100% of Alex and lounged around and did nothing pretty much the entire day. The only thing we ventured out of the house for was pizza from the yummy place in Oklahoma called Hideaway. Later that night, we all got ready and went to a German bar called Fasslers to have a chill night because we all had to get up and go to Stillwater the next day.

Saturday

Stillwater exit sign on the highway, cute little boot coozie, and the Spirit Walk when all of the Football players head to Boone Pickens Stadium

Jello shots!

We were all up and ready by 9am to go to see Oklahoma State kick some butt in Stillwater! I don't know how to explain it, but I just love Stillwater. It brings back so many fun memories of college and it just makes me happy to see all the orange flooding the streets. We tailgated and took jello shots.. of course. Later, pretty much the best part of my day happened when I got to meet Lyndse who blogs at Blonde Oklahoma Girl. The second she walked up to me I just knew she was as sweet, pretty, and funny as she is on her blog! We just kept hugging and talking about bloggers haha. I had decided not to buy a ticket to the game because I can't ever sit still and watch so I had a lot of time to kill that day. I wandered around, met up with my old roommate Lauren, went to Old Navy and shopped while intoxicated, and got take-out from my all time favorite restauarnt in Stillwater called Thai Cafe.

After the game, we went to out "The Strip" in Stillwater where all the bars are and hung out. I got to see a bunch of my friends from college and it was so much fun!

Sunday

Katie and Alex's crazy cat, Captain Tigger

We had to get up super early and drive back to Tulsa so Katie could pick up her Mom from the aiport and then Alex, our friend Jordan, and I lounged, ate, and napped the rest of the day. We watched American Horror Story because I only watch it during daylight because it's so freaky! Also, Katie and Alex have this hilarious cat named Captain Tigger. I'm not generally a cat person, but he's so funny and I ended up loving him by the time I left.

Monday

Katie and I got up and got ready and met Alex at their favorite Sushi place for lunch. Then I got to go to Alex's office and see where she works. After that it was sadly time to pack up and head to the Airport to go back to Colorado!

It was such a whirlwind of a trip and I can't believe I was there for almost 5 days. It was a blast though because I absolutely love visiting my best friends! I can't wait for the next trip, although I'm voting that we all meet-up somewhere different like the beach ;)

Oh, and before I go..
Happy Halloween!

Friday Favorites

Hi Lovies!

Do I have a surprise for YOU! As you know, I love to show off my favorites every Friday when I link-up with Miss Bargain Blonde. Well since I'm off day drinking hanging with my besties in Oklahoma, I thought I would introduce you to one of my favorite blogs and cutest friends.. Emily!

Favorite Blogger
 Emily from The Sweetest Thing

Hello!

So, SO, SOOO very happy to be here today! We already have something in common... we LOVE sweet Sami! She's been such a blessing to me - she keeps me entertained and in style! Can't help but love her! I'm so happy she gave me the opportunity to guest post!

About me.. {Blogger at The Sweetest Thing!}

*photo from this weekends trip to North Carolina*
We love traveling in what little time off we get! Of course Arkansas & Ohio are our two favorite places to visit!

Now random 411 about myself for your reading pleasure (aka using recent photos taken on my phone to describe myself!)...

It feels incredibly cliche to say this but I really do love fashion. Maybe not fashion so much, rather clothing. May I add that I am allowed to say this because it is my JOB!

My favorite scent on this planet... besides puppy breath! I spent last New Years Eve in Paris! Talk about fabulous... the friend we visted there wore this perfume ahem, parfum, so it reminds me of all the fun we had! Precious, precious memories in the City of Lights!

Now that I'm all married up... I kind of go overboard with the monogram stuff. Our pillows on our bed and couch are monogrammed. Our lampshades. Soap bottles. Phone case. Jewelry. Etc. I love my new initials so I feel like I should just plaster them everywhere... oops.

Now, I also love DIY stuff but I'm terrible actually doing it MYself. Oops. Read my blog and you'll find out about good deals on things that aren't so DIYesque. {GroopDealz did a vinyl monogram deal a few weeks ago for a $1... of course I ordered 10 - and stuck them on random things around our home!}

Let's be honest... I hate dieting, health, exercise, etc. I won't even lie to you.

However, this time last year I set an alarm on my phone to go off each day at noon... the alarm says "Lose 10 pounds." Really encouraging, right?

Well, I am good at following instructions so I did as my phone instructed me. I lost 10 pounds. It wasn't easy. And it's not something I talk about too often... especially publicly. It took about 7 months because I have a strange addiction to Mexican food and sweet tea. But it happened and now I've taught myself how to keep it off... at least I think I have.

I have a few favorite things that I rely on to keep that weight off and this Skinny Coffee is one of my new favorites. {Courtesy of my brilliant Mother!}
Have you tried it?

Are you tired of Baubles? I keep hearing people complain and I'm a little confused... how can lime green Bubbles not be adorable, or any color for that matter!

You'd think I would be sick of them. I have 5 necklaces and I started my collection last May. But no siree... I am not tired of them. I can't help it - I think they are cute as can be. Let's all face it - J. Crew started the trend and J. Crew is a pretty dang classic brand so I think I'll keep wearing them...

Read my blog and learn about how I am slightly obsessed with cold weather & cold weather fashions. Just use this link and read my Boot Sock 101.

I love makeup! I often try products and then do reviews on my blog! Use this link and read about my favorite Make Up Best Buys!

Random Pinterest projects are my favorite past time. With exception of this little trick... my brushes now REEK of vinegar. Imagine that! {they are however, VERY clean!}

Well, that's it for now! Thanks so much for reading and come visit my blog, The Sweetest Thing!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I mean honestly isn't she the cutest? Plus, her husband isn't too bad either ;) Am I right? Anywhoo.. Emily is a great resource for cute outfits and awesome makeup tips so get your booty over to her blog and follow her. Tell her I sent you!

Have a great weekend!
Don't forget to meet me back here on Monday to link-up for Weekend Update :)

30 Things- Question 4

Hi Lovies!
It's Thursday so you know what that means? At 12:00 I'm free, and off to pretend I'm in college again! Check back next week to hear me whine about how much I hate myself because I can't party like I used to, but for now.. I'm still excited! See you soon Oklahoma :)

It's time for another installment of 30 Things (full list here) and I'm pretty excited about this one. I should warn you though, there are some really embarrassing pictures of me below..so beware!

Question 4- List 10 things you would tell your 16 year old self

Ohhh honey boo boo, the things I would tell this girl if I could go back in time..

one.
Stop going out of your way to disrespect your parents, believe it or not they do know what's best for you.

two.
Remember when you said you'd never live in Colorado again after high school? Think again sister!

three.
Stop chasing after ugly boys, not only are they rude but you can do way better. Stop wasting tears on those fools.

four.
That random college in Oklahoma you're about to apply to? It will end up being the best four years of your life!

five.
I know you think it's really cool that your cellphone is in color now, but guess what? In four years your phone will be a touch screen. I know, crazy right!

six.
When that dumb girl offers to dye your naturally blonde hair a lighter color.. run far far away!

seven.
That silver eye shadow? Not cute. Why don't you try brown instead!

eight.
Stop doing what everyone tells you to do. Stand up for yourself girlfriend, it's okay to have an opinion.

nine.
Stop bitching about paying for your own gas. In a couple of years you'll pay for your own gas plus allll your bills too. You've got it pretty easy right now!

ten.
Those girls you call your best friends, "The Cinco" as you lovingly refer to yourselves as? Come two years from now you won't even speak to each other and you know what? That's okay.

Let me just tell you, it was hard to look that bad good ;)

What would you tell your 16 year old self now?
Check back tomorrow morning because I have a very special treat for you lovelies!

October Birchbox Review

Hi Lovies!

Usually we talk Birchbox earlier in the month, but they are of course up to their old tricks of charging you the first week of the month, and not sending until the last week. Rude.

Anywhoo.. this month there was the option to choose the goop box over the normal Birchbox and because I loved the Teen Vogue box so much, I decided to opt in. I should have known better! goop.com is a lifestyle website that was created by Gwyneth Paltrow. This box was filled with their "must-try essentials". Something I noticed about this special box compared to Teen Vogue, was that the goop boxes were all very different, where as the Teen Vogue were pretty much all the same.

one. LUNA Fiber- Chocolate Rasberry bar
I've never been a fan of protein bars and this one sounded gross so I didn't bother trying it.

two. Sprout- Cocoa lip balm
I was excited about this one until I tried it. It only has 5 natural ingredients, but it smells and tastes awful. I'll take a few chemicals if it doesn't smell or taste like dirt.

three. Supergoop!- City Sunscreen Serum
I am on a new skin regimen because my skin is AWFUL right now, so I'm not trying any new products. I will put it aside and try it when my skin calms down though.

four. Caudalie- Vinoperfect Radiance Serum
Again, another facial product that I'm not willing to try right now. I'll probably give it to my mom though, because the full size is $80. No thanks!

five. (MALIN + GOETZ)- Cilantro Hair Conditioner
I haven't had a chance to try this yet but it smells awesome! I'm one of those people that loves the smell of cilantro, but I know a lot of people can't stand it.

six. (MALIN + GOETZ)- Grapefruit Face Cleanser
I'll try this guy later. I've never heard anything about this brand, I should do some googling!

Overall, I hated this box. There is not a single product that I loved or was dying to try. I was actually super disappointed, because the first goop box I saw had Essie and Kiehls in it. Had they sent me that box I would have loved it! Luck of the draw I guess. Also, the card they sent with my box didn't have the Caudalie product on it and had a Per-fekt Beauty brow perfection gel instead.. I would have liked to see that product! I have to agree with Tara though, two thumbs up for no perfume samples.

I did discover something since my last review though. While I may not appreciate everything that comes in my Birchbox, your girlfriends will love it if you put all of your extra samples in the guest bathroom when they come to visit! Right Katie and Alex ;)

What did you think of your Birchbox this month?

Madonna- MDNA World Tour

Hi Friends!

It's time to recap the Madonna concert that I attended with my Mom, Aunt, and Uncle last Thursday. I was skeptical going into the whole thing because while I like Madonna, I'm not her biggest fan and I knew it was going to be a long night. It ended up being amazing and a lot of fun!

I mentioned a few times that we won tickets early last week. We had initially bought tickets in the 3rd section up (nosebleeds) because the tickets were very expensive. On Monday, I woke up to an email saying that we had been entered into a contest and won tickets in the "Golden Triangle." I had no idea what this meant but it sounded cool! Since we also had our other set of tickets, we decided to give them to my aunt and uncle.

When we got there, we were instructed to go to the box office to get our wristbands. They also said something about the "Golden Triangle" yet we still had no idea what that meant although we did feel pretty important ;) Everywhere we went, we just had to hold up our wrist to get where we wanted.

After asking a few people who work for the venue we were directed to an area that was in the middle of the catwalk, right in front of the stage. If you are looking from the stage, the area was in the shape of a triangle, therefore "Golden Triangle". I was in shock at how amazing these seats were and all of the other people in the area with us had also won the tickets. We had left my aunt and uncle earlier, thinking we wouldn't see them until the end of the concert. However, when they got to their seats, an usher asked if they'd like to sit closer and they were upgraded to floor seats right in front of the cat walk! Crazy huh?

Mom and I before the concert standing just a few feet in front of the stage. No we did not plan to color coordinate, she eventually changed into a t-shirt she bought from the merch stand.

My outfit: Liquid leggings from Macy's, Boots from Old Navy, Lace tank from Nordstrom, and Jacket from Kohls

I had joked about wearing an old Madonna costume from college and I wish I had because there were so many other people dressed up. These are all women, but there were just as many men in both costumes and drag! It was great people watching that's for sure. One of the guys we were next to told me that when this area isn't given away as a contest, tickets usually cost over $1500!

Everyone kept telling us it was going to be quite the "show" and I didn't believe them until it started. The opening was like a catholic church and Madonna came from the ceiling in a confessional booth.

This was her first outfit for the opening and a couple of songs after. She was in a skin tight, black outfit and she looks amazing!

This was from the opening sequence that upset a lot of people. She had a fake gun and was shooting at her dancers that were dressed up as criminals. Everytime she "shot" someone, the screen splattered with blood. Was it outrageous? Yes. Was I offended? No. It's Madonna, what do you expect?

This was a cool part where she tight rope walked along the stage. You can tell how much practice and choreography goes into this show!

Look how freaking tiny she is! She's so skinny and not very tall. Also, you can't see but she was strutting around the stage in some amazing Louboutins.

She laid down on top of this pillar, and was lowered into the ground to finish the first set and change into the second outfit.

I might be wrong, but I think is the same outfit from the Superbowl performance? She did a really cool mash-up of "Express Yourself" and "Born this Way". I didn't get an good pictures, but she has drummers dressed in band attire that were hanging from the ceiling during this part. They were right about our heads!

This was my favorite outfit, it was an amazing textured leather skirt and top and in person it was so cool!

She paused the show for about five minutes to stand at the front of the stage and chat with the audience. She told everyone how it important is was to register and vote! She talks and sounds like such a sweet, genuine person.

During "Vogue" of course!

This was out in the middle of the cat walk, where we didn't have a very good view. She did a strip tease down to her bra and tights that we pretty much missed out on. Bummer ;)

She had quite a lot of interaction with the crowd which I was pretty surprised about. She had them singing along every couple of songs, which I thought made her seem so personable and fun!

Overall, the concert was great and she played for about 2 hours. The only thing people were super pissed about was that the tickets said the show started at 8, but I knew from my emails about the contest that she shouldn't go on until 10 because there was a DJ from 8-10. She didn't end up going on until close to 11 and the concert went until about 1am. It was a long night and a lot of standing but in the end I felt it was all worth it. This was definitely a once in a lifetime experience!

Have you ever seen Madonna?
What did you think?
