Thank you for all the congratulations on sweet Fitzyface. Sunday night I thought he was a terror and I was wondering if I'd made a huge mistake. He peed on my bed and then barked and cried for hours in his kennel. Yesterday, I was a walking zombie and it was not pretty. The good news is that he and Lily did great by themselves yesterday and when I got home we went on a walk and he is doing much better. Only a few cries and barks last night. I know he's going to be a perfect little addition to our family.
Today I want to give a little update on my journey to get fit. When we chatted about two weeks ago, I told you all that I was fed up with being fat and I was ready to make a change.. and I have. Here's what I'm doing:
The Gym
I joined a gym and in the 21 days since I signed up, I have marched my butt in there and worked out 18 times. Yes, even I'm surprised by that. Some days it's me by myself and some days it's with my trainer, Brooke. As far as working with a personal trainer? I think it's great. She pushes me to do things I would never do by myself and I'm learning a lot about different areas of the gym. When I wake up the day after a session. I am sore and I know I worked hard. It's very motivating! I have mentioned on Twitter that I did have some issues with her. I think sometimes she says things without really thinking how they could be taken. I also think that nobody is perfect, so I had my freak out, got some great advice from some wonderful ladies, and then moved on. Plus, I paid her a lot of money for these sessions and remembering that fact pushes me to work hard and get the most out of it that I can.
The Food
This piece of the puzzle has actually been pretty easy for me and I chalk that up completely to planning. I am eating about 95% clean, which means that planning is key. On Sundays, I have been writing out a meal plan for two weeks, doing my grocery shopping, and prepping as much as I can. I do awesome when I grab it and go with my food. I have been using My Fitness Pal to track calories and stay under 1200/day and my trainer gave me a meal plan that has me eating every 3 hours, or 5 small meals a day. At first I thought it was going to be really hard, but I'm adjusting faster than I thought I would. I am actually eating a lot more food than I used to be, but it's healthier and better for me and it's keeping my full longer than before.
The Changes
Both the best and the hardest part of all of this. I'm not stupid, I knew it would take time.. but I'm impatient. When you're working your butt off you want to see results and when you don't it sucks. Yesterday changed that though. The scale has been my enemy. I signed up for a DietBet, which is know think might have been a mistake. Yes, I'm doing a lot of cardio and eating right.. but I'm also doing a lot of weight training. I'm building muscle and replacing the fat. According to the scale, I've lost 2 lbs. Then yesterday my trainer took my measurements again for the first time in 3 weeks, and I lost 1.5% of my body fat. It felt amazing! More than that, I'm happier and I feel better. I am changing myself from the inside out and I couldn't be more excited about it.
I know that some of you may find all of this very boring and I'm sorry for that. For every person that finds it boring, I know that there is someone else who finds it helpful. The blog community has been amazing on this journey. I have girls giving advice, pushing me, and being my cheerleader. It really is wonderful. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
