The Story of the Girl with No Friends

Hi Loves!

So my little bunny foo foo Whitney decided to get all serious and stuffs on her blog today and you know what I thought, other than the fact that she is a smart little princess? That I just sure don't do that enough over here in Shenanigans land. So today is story time.. it's too bad it's 9am or else I'd tell all of you to grab a glass of wine and settle in. I guess coffee will do.

Once upon a time there was a blonde headed sorority girl who went to the greatest college in the country, Oklahoma State University. For three and a half years, she skipped around and had lots of fun and made lots of friends. Did she make mistakes? Oh heck yes she did. But did she learn alot? You betcha. But this story doesn't have the happy ending you're all hoping for, because come one cold December day she had to dress in a black robe and walk across a stage to get her diploma.. and the next day she had to leave and drive 600+ miles back to that square state they call Colorado.

Fast forward to a year later, and that blonde headed girl was 22 and in a sad state of affairs. She had been working a terrible job, tried and failed hard at moving to Texas, and then she lost her job. We all know how depressing it can be to try and find a job when you don't have one so what did she do? Well she started a blog, and it was the greatest decision she could have ever made. It kept her from being all Debbie downer about not only losing her job, but also losing the close group on friends she had made through said job.

Jump forward another year (or just picture One Year Later scrolling across your screen movie style), and blonde haired girl is happy. Thank goodness for that! She has a job, she's independent, she loves blogging (and most days it loves her back), and best of all she has found an amazing group on girlfriends all around the country that brighten her day on the regular. We're golden right? Well, not exactly. You see as amazing as her blog girlfriends are (and they really are, I swear), homegirl is hanging out in a really fun city with no close friends.

Okay okay enough of that third person nonsense, here's the truth. It is so damn hard to find friends when you're an adult. It's even more hard when you're naturally a shy person. So I'm turning all of that around, or at least I'm trying.

Step one. I'm attending an Alpha Delta Pi alumni dinner next week. Do I know anyone else going? No. Is there potential to meet new people and maybe make some friends? Oh yes there is! Let's hope I get some balls sometime in the next week and that I don't act like an awkward shy weirdo.

Step two. An Oklahoma State Alumni dinner in April. This one is still up for debate. I think I'll go to the other one first and see how it turns out. The OSU will be way more people and the thought of that sends my anxiety through the roof. Oh anxiety, what a gem.

Step three. Join a gym! Let's face it, not only is there potential to meet new people.. but I could stand to get off my booty a couple time a week.

So that's my plan and I'm sticking to it. Cross your fingers that something great comes from it. I mean right now I'm focused on the finding friends thing, but a date or two wouldn't hurt either right?

That's all I got friends. Have a wonderful Thursday! xoxo

Sorry I'm Not Sorry Y'all

Oh Hey There Friends!

It is seriously only Wednesday? Is this real life? Between work and all of this snow I feel like I at least deserve to be at Thursday by now. But hey I'm looking on the bright side, I successfully pulled my hair into a bun on my first try this morning. Come on, we all know that is a win!

Today's post is kind of awesome..  I'll never turn down an opportunity to not apologize for things. I hate apologizing, I hate confrontation, and I'm always right.. or something like that.

Sorry I'm Not Sorry...

... for saying whatever is on the tip of my tongue without thinking first. Hey, at least you know I'm honest!

... that texting my blogger loves keeps me mostly sane, and by that I mean I talk to them more than I talk to anyone else and I'm not sorry about that either. PS. I thought about including a screen shot but our texts are too scandalous and for our eyes only. Bye.

... for wishing that Max was a Newslady here so that I'd have a reason to watch the news. See also: none of the news people here try to get Justin Beiber to retweet them, maybe if they I'd like them more.

... that I get most all of my news from Twitter and SNL's Weekend Update. Try and tell me that Seth Myers isn't a god, just try. PS. Can I take over for him when he leaves?

... that I could easily eat chips and salsa for dinner every single night. Calm down, the important thing here is that I don't.

... for spending a majority of the day on Twitter and Instagram. I've gotta get my kicks somewhere, and I can assure you it's not going to come from my coworkers who insist on always leaving :01 on the microwave. Does this annoy anyone else as much as it's annoys me?

... that I'm so totally over the snow and cold. Get off me Winter!

... that I really enjoy turning on Pandora and dancing like a crazy person while I get ready. That kids got the moves, and SO DO I.

... for having zero interest in seeing Les Miserables, or Anne Hathaway singing, or Anne Hathaway period. Okay maybe I do sort of enjoy the fact that she shaved her head.

... that I spent an hour looking at GIFs from The Hills last night. There just isn't good quality "Reality TV" like this anymore. Except Vanderpump Rules, but lets be real give me LC or give me death.

... that I'm convinced I will be Mrs. DeGraw someday. What does Kim Zolciak say again? "Ask, Believe, and you'll Receive." Guys, she went from being with a married guy named Big Poppa to getting wifed up by a NFL player. I think I'll play along.

... for this being an incredibly sassy post. I'm channeling my inner Beyonce today, obvi!

Linking up with my loves here, here, and here!

Fashion Hits & Misses- 2013 Oscars

Hi Bunnies!

Today is the ultimate fashion recap, and also the last one of the awards show season! Insert sad face here. The Oscars or the Academy Awards (Why do they have two names again? That is so confusing!) are when all of the stars bring out the big guns. This is THE awards show of the season and nobody wants to be on the worst dressed list. This is also the awards show where all of the big designers beg the stars to wear their gowns. Also why I will never understand when a starlet wears a bad dress. I mean you had so many options! Anyways, I digress.. let's get to the pictures!

HITS

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture
Hands down just perfect, everything about it. The top was fitted so perfectly to her tiny body that the parachute like bottom didn't seem overwhelming. The perfect balance. Can I have this as my wedding dress please? I loved her hair up and I was obsessed with the jewels, especially the delicate necklace that she wore to the back. I've said it once, and I'll say it again.. I want to be her. Homegirl is 22 and has two nominations and one win in the bag. She is going to have an amazing career. Plus she's awesome!

Naomi Watts in Armani Prive
This is one of those dresses that really should not work, yet it's perfection. All of that sparkle and all of that detail could easily have been too much and she looks like a stunning sparkly princess. There is not one single thing I would change about this, even the styling is perfect. The dress wows and she keeps her hair, makeup, and jewels simple. This is probably my favorite look from the entire season. You go Naomi Coco!

Charlize Theron in Dior Haute Couture
If you're going to go on an awards show hiatus, THIS IS HOW YOU MAKE A COMEBACK! She pulled off a trend that nobody has done well on the red carpet so far, and that's a peplum.. it gave the perfect pop to this white column dress. She also pulls the pixie cut off about 100 times better than Anne Hathaway ever could. I do wish she would have added a little color either with the jewels or a handbag. Otherwise, job well done girl!

Jennifer Garner in Gucci
Had you asked me if I would like to see a tail on the red carpet this year, I would have said hail to the no, obvi. But on Jen Garner, a tail works wonders. I love the color, and the fit is so perfect that the party in the back adds the perfect touch. Obsessed with the necklace too! I will say that the color coordinating peep toes hanging out the bottom make me cringe, but I'm sure it's hard to walk in a dress like that so I'll zip it.

Stacy Kiebler in Naeem Kahn
All hail George Clooney's longest standing cocktail waitress girlfriend! I kid of course, but I think we are all surprised she's stuck around this long. Back to the dress.. I am obsessed. I love everything about this from the color, to the pattern, to the belt. I also love that she stuck to the flapper influence with her hair, yet somehow didn't look too costumey. My lover Brad Goreski knocked this look out of the park!

Amy Adams in Oscar de la Renta
Another glamorous train and another stunning look. I love this look and she looks like she's floating on a pretty grey cloud. Have we ever seen Amy Adams look bad? She is an example of how having a great stylist is such a blessing for celebrities! Love her slightly messy updo as well.. it's the perfect compliment to this dress!

Sandra Bullock in Elie Saab
Oh hey Sandy girl! Missed you. Her and Reese Witherspoon are my homegirls. Love them to death. I adore this Elie Saab dress and honestly he does no wrong in my eyes but I'm obsessed with this look. At first I didn't love the hair, but it grew on me and it's so straight and chic that it really balances out the femininity of the gown. I really hate that handbag (Why is there a chain but you're not using it?)but we'll just let that slide. Sandy is the queen, duh!

I just realized that every look I picked was in the white/grey/black color family with the exception of Jennifer Garner. I guess that goes to show that you don't always need alot of color to make a big statement on the red carpet!

MISSES

Anne Hathaway in Prada
Nothing about this look works, NOTHING. That dress is 90's prom in the front and just all around weird in the back. The color does nothing for her, and we all know that the seams up top accentuate what you don't want accentuated on the red carpet. Okay I'll say it, we are all staring at her nips. Also, she rubs me the wrong way and does not seem genuine in the least. PS. This is why you don't reject the custom made dress and go with something else three house before the show. Dumb.

Jennifer Aniston in Valentino
There is nothing truly bad about this look, but I'm bored of Jennifer Aniston's thing. Change it up girl! She is always wearing a poofy ball gown and she's always wearing her hair down. It works for her but we also want to see something more, something different! Also, I wonder if she only agreed to present because Brad and Ang weren't making an appearance? She does look very happy though and that's great!

Zoe Saldana in Alexis Mabille
This a classic issue of too many trends and not enough dresses. Separately all of the elements are good, but together it's sort of a mess. If the top was a simple sweetheart neckline.. I would have loved the pop of ombre train at the bottom. Almost as if I want to cut the dress in half? She also looks sort of down and tired. Probably all of that back and forth with BCoop. Love is exhausting sister!

Nicole Kidman in L'Wren Scott
Oh honey no. There is just too much going on here! Sparkly black sequins have a way of creeping up on you and looking like trash bags and oil spills and they are definitely doing that here. Throw in the gold sequins and this totally reminds me of one of my grandma's jackets from Chicos. Her pale complexion looks so much better in color. She may have been going for something out of the box, but it just didn't work.

Halle Berry in Versace
Everything I loved about Stacy Keibler's dress, I hate on Halle Berry's. This is too futuristic robot for me and even though we all know she has a banging body, the dress would make you think she has a little pooch. That's never a good thing. If I picture it sleeveless with a black skirt I actually kind of love it but alas I am not the designer and I give this look two thumbs down. Better luck next season Halle!

Salma Hayek in Alexander McQueen
Velvet, gold applique, and a tiara on a petite little lady? A recipe for disaster. Too me this is Kate Hudson's flawless look from the Golden Globes gone wrong. Her figure looks amazing, but this reminds me of something very old and does not feel modern at all. Let's just admit it, she should always being showing off her curves and her tatas.. it works for her!

Brandi Glanville in her own design
This one is pretty self explanatory, but I have one question.. how in the world did Brandi of all people manage to get invited to the Oscars and walk the red carpet? I mean seriously, who did she sleep with?

MARCHESA
Somehow, Marchesa managed to get nearly completely skipped this awards season and I don't know why. I hope they come back with a vengeance because I miss their pretty gowns on the big stars!

Olivia Munn
Right off the runway and my heart skips a beat. I love everything about this dress because it's classic Marchesa and it's gorgeous!

Georgina Chapman
I know everyone said that Jenna Dewan had the perfect baby bump look, and I think she looked amazing.. but Georgina Chapman takes the cake for me. She is always flawless.

Fan Bingbing
I have no clue who this girl is but she sort of ruined a perfectly amazing Marchesa gown. The styling is bad and her shoes are too tall. This makes me a little sad to be honest.

As far as the show, I thought it had it's funny moments but it was way too long! I did however manage to live tweet the whole show and not land myself in Twitter jail. Some of my favorite moments..

Sandra Bullock had a hard time opening the envelope..

Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper are so totally in love we should just ignore the 16 year age gap.. that's no big.

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck are the ultimate Hollywood couple. So adorably in love I can't handle it!

Did you watch the Oscars? Who were your Hits & Misses?

Hi Sweet Thangs!

Thank god it's Friday. I've got big plans this weekend.. babysitting an adorable 5 year old, doing my taxes, attempting to put away my Christmas tree for the 3rd time, and having a pizza making party with a different adorable 5 year old. It's a crazy life I lead people. On a much more exciting note, guess who is coming back to Saturday Night Live? Mr. Timberlake. Will you watch on March 5th? I wouldn't miss it. What you can miss is this weekend's show..  Pauly Shore and Paul McCartney? I'll pass.

Now it's time to get to business, meaning it's time to talk tweets..

This week there hasn't been as much funny in blog land as there usually is. It's been a little tense, so this week is all about laughs. All of these tweets made me smile at some point this week, so it's my duty as the resident Twitter stalker to pass them on to all you. Enjoy!

Listen to Tiffany, that shit is creepy yo.

This happens to me more often than I care to admit. See also, I hate when they make you change a password every three months!

I mean if Mason's boyfriend isn't down for that, it sounds like a perfect evening to me.

If you throw in some pictures of Starbucks cups, I'm pretty sure Tara was actually looking at my iPhone pictures!

Jen and I both used to work at Nordstrom and ask anyone else who did.. this is the most annoying thing ever.

Wisdom via Sex and the City? Whitty face is obviously a smart cookie.

This is every single season, and he might be the first one to admit it finally! You go Sean Coco.

This tweet made me want to cry, thanks alot Blair's Head Band. COME BACK GOSSIP GIRL!

I mean when winter storms come to Colorado I hate them.. then they get dumb names and Kaitlyn and I hate them even more.

Tell me one girl that doesn't say this at least once per day. Seriously, tell me one.

Oh Taylor! I think at one point I've carried at least 20 bags in from the car so I didn't have to go back.

Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose had a baby.. and named it Sebastian Taylor Thomaz ala JTT (Jonathan Taylor Thomas).

Would it be rude to say that I do this every time my coworkers talk to me? Oh it is? Well then I would never do that.

I don't know who Sara was specifically talking about, but my personal faves to go make fun of are usually on Kim Kardashian's or Justin Beiber's feeds.

Obviously the greatest tweet of the week.. Isn't he such a great boo to come visit me?

What were your favorite tweets this week? Don't forget to send them to me so I can use them in my recap!

Ps. Did you enter to win a HANAair Professional Hair Dryer yesterday?

Last but not least, see you on Monday for Weekend Shenanigans!
