Karly Kim Shenanigans

Hi Lovies!

I drank too much red wine last night and now my brain is a little fuzzy. It happens to the best of us really. So if you need me, I'll be drinking lots of water and listening to John Legend. The good news is that someone way cooler than me is gracing my blog today..

Enough about me, do you want to meet one of the funniest bloggers I've come across lately? I know you do. Her name is Karly Kim, she's gorgeous, and she's hilarious. Make her your new blog BFF and thank me later.

I asked her some ridiculous questions, and she answered them like a pro. You're going to want to read these.

1. So you're a photographer.. how did you get into it and what's your favorite part about taking pictures?

People think it's weird that they've never seen any pictures from my wedding.  The reason for that is because I hate my wedding pictures.  I started to take classes and took an apprenticeship so I could photograph weddings and hopefully never have another bride say she hates her pictures.

2. Your best moment from blogging thus far?

I've (virtually) met a lot of really cool people.

3. Your worst moment from blogging thus far?

Telling people who don't blog that I have virtual friends and it's totally normal.

4. A favorite tweet, yours or someone else's.

5. Your most embarrassing moment.

I met a boy in college (high school) and went back to his (parents) house.  Apparently, it was his birthday because at midnight his mom, dad, sister and brother came into his room with a birthday cake singing happy birthday.  With no dignity left, I put my shirt back on and awkward sang the rest of the happy birthday song.

6. While reading one of your posts I saw that you have a specific brand of string cheese you prefer, which to me means you know your string cheese. So the most important question about string cheese.. do you pull or bite when you eat it?

If it's a leisurely day, I peel it.  If I'm starving, I just open my throat and drop it down, like a snake.

7. 3 Things that you want people to know if they are going to read your blog.

Keep your expectations low and you'll never be disappointed with a post.
I believe I bridge the gap between canine and human communication.
I love candy.

8. You live in my absolute favorite city ever. Your favorite thing to do in New York City?

I spend a lot of time looking for Hugh Jackman.  I haven't found him yet.

9. You ask me a question and I will answer it.

If you could be friends with any celebrity, who would it be any why?
Oh, that is easy.. hands down it would be Jennifer Lawrence. She seems like she would be such a good time right?

So that's Karly, she's awesome and now you're going to need to go read some of my favorite posts of hers. There's the one where she did Playboy, the one where she talks about herself, and also THE ONE WHERE SHE WAS ALMOST ON THE BACHELOR.

Alright so you definitely want to be friends with her now right? That's what I figured. Now is when you go follow her in every way possible. There's Bloglovin, , , , and .

Comments are turned off so you can go leave Karly some love! See you all tomorrow :)

Excuses Can Be a Real Bitch.

Hi Pretties!

Remember when I was really into changing my lifestyle and was eating healthy and working out on the reg? Yep, me too. I had a crazy amount of motivation and I was so into it.

Then life happened. I got busy, I had stuff going on, I started drinking all of the things, and I made excuses.

Excuses can be a real bitch.

I'm tired.

I want to go to Happy Hour.

I want to go home.

I want to sleep in.

It's just one workout.

I'll do it tomorrow.

I'm sore.

I'm stressed.

Here's the thing.. for all the excuses I can make up for why I shouldn't work out? They are all just reasons why I'm never going to reach my goals. They are all just reasons that I'm going to continue to be uncomfortable in my skin. They are all just stupid reasons, when deep down I know I need to get off my butt and just go do it.

But now it's time to come up with some new excuses. Excuses for why I shouldn't skip the gym.

My body is not going to change itself.

If I don't use my gym membership, it's a waste of money.

I'll feel better about myself.

You never regret a workout.

It's a great stress/anxiety reliever.

I need to make time for myself, not everyone else.

Endorphins make you happy, happy people don't kill their husbands.

So ya, there's that and although most of you could probably care less.. some of you may relate. Also when I say it out loud in blogland, I tend to remember that I have to hold myself accountable to follow through.

As my sweet friend Mal would say.. time to jump on the Skinny Train.

PS. I'm back to doing the My Fitness Pal thing if you're so inclined to play along.

Let's do the damn thing.

It's Time for Weekend Shenanigans!

Hi Lovelies!

It's time for Weekend Shenanigans.. a mutual place to share our weekends, catch up on other people's weekends, and find new blogs.

Here's how it works:
- Post about your weekend
- Grab the button
- Link-up on Monday at 5am MST
- Click around and meet new friends!

**My only rule is that you post something about your weekend, and post the button or link back to me!**

Let's get to it and have some fun!

one. I broke down and purchased an iPhone 5S in Space Gray. It's so much faster and nicer than my 4 and I'm mildly obsessed.
two. I normally don't approve of Moscow Mules that are not served in copper mugs, but I suppose Mason jars are okay too.
three. I drove past a Gigi's cupcake and couldn't not stop in and get one. There wasn't much of a selection, but this Texas Milk Chocolate tasted just like Texas sheet cake. Yum!
four. Happy hour on Friday night at the piano bar and you know I had to request one of my very favorite songs by my very favorite musician.
five. It's too bad that this picture didn't turn out well, because we are holding jello shots in syringes. Bringing me back to my college days!
six. Just one of the 50+ picture photo shoot that we took out at the bar. This is why pictures shouldn't be allowed when it's late at night.
seven. This one doesn't believe in personal space, she sits as close as possible to me whenever she gets the chance! She's adorbs so I can't say I mind.
eight. A favorite Sunday night dinner: ground turkey, black beans, grilled onions, and guacamole aka faux Chipotle burrito bowl.
nine. A rainy Sunday night calls for my favorite Fall treat and my favorite Fall candle.

What did you do this weekend? Link-up and share!

Hi Lovies!

I could not be happier to see Friday. I'm ready to relax this weekend and hope that those two days off don't fly by like they have been lately! Wishful thinking I'm sure.

In case you're new around here or missed out earlier, every week time I feel like it I round up my favorite things from Twitter land and post them for all of you along with my commentary.

If you click on the Tweet This, Tweet That logo above it takes you to my Twitter page. Throughout the week I favorite tweets I think should make the recap and on Fridays I narrow it down to fifteen.. believe me it's not an easy task. Check out my favorites list on Twitter to see all of the runners up!

Tweet this, Tweet that is now interactive so you can see my timeline above and can Reply, Favorite, or Retweet any of the tweets below. One of my goals is for people to have fun with it, and to find new accounts to follow so that your Twitter timelines can be as much fun as mine!

Can this be a real thing? Gimme all of the carbs, always!

I'm going to start sending this to people who abuse their hashtag privileges.

It's cute because she's in California. I feel like Jack every morning in the dead of winter in Colorado. Lolz.

Yes, it absolutely is. If there's a hell.. trying on bathing suits is it.

This is my life every single morning after my alarm goes off. It's a lovely way to wake up!

I feel like more things really need to have a help button. Maybe my car or my phone?

If you try and say that you don't judge people based off of their bumper stickers then you are definitely a liar.

You don't like something? Sorry I'm a creative genius, therefore your argument is irrelevant.

I heard this song for the first time yesterday.. and I didn't hate it. Then I punched myself in the face.

Am I allowed the say that I'm in a relationship with my pizza while I eat it? I mean pizza has never hurt my feelings.. except for when my pants get too tight.

I completely agree. There are times when I would probably kill someone for a piece of chocolate and I refuse to believe other people aren't the same.

Sometimes I attend an around the world party.. and sometimes I send 20 snapchats in one night. Maybe I got carried away.. maybe not.

It's kind of true. Either she's dating someone who time travels or she forgets shit. Girlfriend definitely has a "type" of movie.

And now I need to watch Wedding Crashers immediately. "I'll finddddd you!"

SO MUCH THIS. One baby picture a week is plenty, believe me.

I started playing my Back That Azz Up playlist on Spotify the second I sat down at my desk this morning at 7:30am. It's just one of those Fridays.

There is really nothing better than this classic, is there?

That's all I got! Have a great weekend, and see you on Monday for Weekend Shenanigans!

The Blogging Conversation

Oh hi there.

We all know the saying "Good things come to those who wait."  I for one find it a terribly annoying saying to someone as that is impatient as I am. However, more often than not I've found that it's right. But let me explain..

For about 1.5 years of the time I've been in Denver I was miserable. I've changed jobs and I've lost more than one close group of friends. I went to work, I went home, and on the weekends I either ran errands or I went to visit my parents. It was terribly boring and I struggled hard with finding new friends. Then about three months ago, that started to change. I reconnected with a friend from high school, a friend from college moved to Denver, I met new people via work and now instead of never having plans.. I have to pick between two sets of plans. It's great and I'm happy.

There is one little thing that comes with the territory of new friends though..
the blogging conversation.

In my silly little head I thought.. there's no way they will find it and then I won't have to talk about it. Except I don't have a separate account for Twitter or Instagram. So someone sees that I have 1000+ followers on both and automatically wonders why. Which is understandable, especially when my personal Facebook page has less than 100 friends. It's funny how someone that leads a pretty private personal life is so willing to put it all out there on the Internet for strangers to read.. but that's another conversation for another day.

It's not that I don't want people to find out about it and I'm certainly not embarrassed about it, but how do you explain it? Well ya, I have this blog and it has followers and there are link-ups and buttons.. and then you've lost them. Don't even get me started on telling people that I've actually gotten on a plane and flown somewhere to visit someone that I've never actually met in person. If you're not a part of it, it's just not something that is easily explained.

Here's the thing though, of the 5-10 people that I've had to come clean and tell.. almost all of them have told me that they think it's awesome. How they could never do that and how they want to know more. That's when I breathe the sigh of relief, because even though I love blogging and think it's one of my best decisions to date.. there's always a fear that somebody else won't understand it. There's a fear that they will judge or laugh. But they don't. In fact, most of my friends get excited when they make appearances on my blog and I love that.

The moral of the story is this.. I'm sure some of you have the same feelings and fears about people in your life finding out about your blog, and I'm here to tell you that almost everyone in my life is supportive of me putting it all out there for anyone to read and that is pretty awesome.

one. At the Sam Adams pre-party for the Great American Beer Festival at Pourhouse!
two. Waiting to enter the Great American Beer Festival with my friend Christa. 600+ brewers and 4 hours later we were happy and full of beer.
three. Well of course I tried a beer called Juliet, it's too bad they didn't spell it correctly.. right Juliette?
four. Saturday brought a birthday party and then I headed to a drinking around the world party. We started in America with PBR and apple pie shots!
five. Our second stop was Ireland for Irish Car Bombs and green beer.
six. Next, we went to Mexico for Coronas and margaritas. My new friend Chelsea had invited me to the party, and I told her I couldn't drink any tequila because it's been known to make me do embarrassing things.
not pictured. The final stops on the world tour were Germany and Brazil where we had mojitos and beer. The party was so much fun, and reminded me of being back in college! Growing up is overrated.
seven. A little hair of the dog at Snooze for brunch. This deliciousness was champagne, orange juice, and ginger beer. So good!
eight. We decided to get a pancake flight for the table to share, these were Blueberry Danish, Drunken Hawaiian, and Sweet Potato. This put me in a food coma that required a 3 hour nap.
nine. Lily requires hours of snuggling on Sundays, who I am to say no?

Pinktober Giveaway!

Hey Party People!

Erin put together something seriously awesome for Breast Cancer Awareness and I was more than happy to participate and help spread the word.

Read below, feel yourself up, and enter to win some awesome prizes!

If you haven't seen the pink cleats scattering the football fields of every NFL game or the umpteen amount of pink ribbons floating around Facebook lately then you might not know that it's Breast Cancer Awareness month. But have no fear because Erin from Two Thirds Hazel got a whole bunch of bloggers together to bring you a giveaway just to make sure you remember.  The point of the giveaway is to raise awareness about this deadly disease as well as to raise money for breast cancer research in order to hopefully one day end it. And what better way to do that than to throw a whole bunch of PINK prizes your way to entice you to feel yourself up to check for lumps. That's right, feel yourself up by giving yourself a breast exam! Aka the only mandatory thing you'll need to do in order to enter for your chance to win. Win what you ask? Well let's take a little peek and see the prizes shall we.

1) A $300 gift card to Victoria's Secret PINK. Or just Victoria's Secret if you so choose. But either way you'll be getting TONS of new bras to carry those lovely lady lumps of yours around in. And with this much money you might even be able to snag some new panties and a bikini or two!
2) Over $100 worth of makeup and accessories. Snag yourself a lip duo from Sephora, a few blushes, nail polish, lip balms, a makeup bag, a watch, a scarf, a rose quartz and pearl bracelet, a pink pouf from Stella and Dot and more!
3) Over $100 worth of ad space. Get your pretty face on the sidebars of some awesome blogs in order to grow your own blog and gain more exposure.
4) $60 worth of Essie nail polish. You'll get five different pink polishes as well as base and top coats. Add in a pretty pink nail file and your digits will be thanking you for months to come.
5) A set of pink Vino2Go wine glass cups. Because what better way will there be to celebrate winning this giveaway than to sit down and pour yourself a glass (or two, or five) of wine.
6) A $25 design credit. After you're done shopping for new bras, painting your nails, applying makeup, throwing on new accessories and drinking wine, go update your blog with this awesome credit.

Erin // Shanna // Chelsea // Shannon // Samantha // Jordyn // Sarah // Lauren

Lauren // Misti // Nadine // Nicole // Stephanie // Stevie // Michael // Allie

Juliette // Royal // Maddie // Sarah // Steph // Akirah // Mason // Amanda
And now that you've met all of the amazingly generous ladies behind this giveaway, I think it's about time we got to entering it. So start stripping and begin feeling because the best method of prevention is early detection. If you've never given yourself an exam and need some guidance be sure to read the following information brought to you by the National Breast Cancer Foundation on the best ways to get the job done. If you already know how to get yourself to second base then carry on and head straight down to the Rafflecopter below to enter!
1) IN THE SHOWER Using the pads of your fingers, move around your entire breast in a circular pattern moving from the outside to the center, checking the entire breast and armpit area. Check both breasts each month feeling for any lump, thickening, or hardened knot. Notice any changes and get lumps evaluated by your healthcare provider. 2) IN FRONT OF A MIRROR Visually inspect your breasts with your arms at your sides. Next, raise your arms high overhead. Look for any changes in the contour, any swelling, or dimpling of the skin, or changes in the nipples. Next, rest your palms on your hips and press firmly to flex your chest muscles. Left and right breasts will not exactly match—few women's breasts do, so look for any dimpling, puckering, or changes, particularly on one side. 3) LYING DOWN When lying down, the breast tissue spreads out evenly along the chest wall. Place a pillow under your right shoulder and your right arm behind your head. Using your left hand, move the pads of your fingers around your right breast gently in small circular motions covering the entire breast area and armpit. Use light, medium, and firm pressure. Squeeze the nipple; check for discharge and lumps. Repeat these steps for your left breast. -----------------------
Since the primary purpose of this giveaway is to spread awareness, the only thing that's mandatory in order to enter is for you to give yourself the breast exam. The second option available for entry (although definitely not mandatory) is to donate to the Susan G. Komen foundation. This option will get you the most entries because you'll be given an extra entry per every dollar you donate. A $20 donation equals 20 extra entries. Make sense? Good. So get to entering and find some pink fluffy feelings in your heart to help out a great cause!

I Don't Know About You.. But I'm Feeling 21

Hi Loves!

As I sit down to write this post, I realize that my 21st birthday was only three years ago. I don't know why but it seems like so much more time has passed since then. Time flies when you're having fun.. and time crawls when you're a grown up at work.

Some background info on my little 21 year old self.. I was a senior in my last semester of college at this point. I was literally THE LAST of my friends to turn 21. Since that was basically the worst, I had a fake ID and I had been hitting up the bars for almost a year. So my 21st was kind of lame because I had already been going out to the bars and people were kind of like oh you weren't 21?

Moving on..

My 21st birthday fell on a Saturday during football season, so on Friday I got dressed up and went to dinner at my favorite restaurant with my best friends. After dinner, my friends told me that they had a surprise and I when we arrived to their place they had decorated it and bought a cake and champagne. The best friends ever. Really though.

Since I didn't turn 21 until midnight, we all hung around drinking champagne and taking pictures before it was time to walk to "The Strip" aka the street where the bars are.

Between 12am and 2am when the bars closed we wondered around and people bought me shots and it was lots of fun! I wore these really cute shoes but they were impossible to walk in so that was dumb on my part. I didn't fall though, for once!

Towards the end of the night, we went to a bar called Murphy's that had giant jello shots that were in syringes, so naturally I had to have one. Side note.. of all the places from college that I miss, Murphy's is at the top of the list. They had so much cool stuff, including frozen Jack and Coke for like $3. They also had a frozen drink of the week that came with an extra shot AND decorations that I always took out of my drink and put in my hair. Someone take me back!

Shortly after that it was time to take my drunk butt to bed! Sadly, because I had already been out to the bars and embarrassed myself many times before.. my 21st was pretty low key!

The next day I drank Four Loko (the real kind, you know before they realized it would kill people) and tailgated and then took a nap during the actual football game. I went out to the bars again on Saturday night but it was after a game day which means it was super crowded and everyone was hammered and annoying so I think I went home early. I know, I know what a buzzkill.

I just realized that this story isn't cool at all but rest assured I did act a fool many other times in college. One time I'll have to tell the story of my one and only trip to Austin, TX. Now that is a great story!

Alright, now it's your turn! Let's hear about your 21st birthdays..

Currently..

Hi Lovebugs!

It's Tuesday, and if I can somehow make it to Friday.. work will slow down and I can breathe again. It has been an insane three weeks. Throw in some busy weekends and losing my wallet and my life kind of feels like I'm in the middle of a tornado. Anyone want to donate a vacation to me so I can escape my life for a week? I'll love you forever.

Anyways.. here's some stuff I'm all about lately. Enjoy!

Currently, I'm listening to.. Gavin DeGraw's new album Make A Move.

It's streaming right now on VH1 and it comes out next Tuesday. This album is classic, perfect Gavin and I'm head over heels in love with it. Now announce that new tour boo, and for the love please make it just a Gavin tour. As much as I love him, I'm sick of sitting through David Cook, Colbie, and Train to hear some Gavin.

Currently, I'm excited for.. the Great American Beer Festival.

This thing is like a really big deal in Denver. The past two years I have attended with my Pops, but he wasn't entirely excited about going this year so my friend Christa and I are going to go. We are going to drink so much delicious beer and it's going to be so much fun and I can't even wait for it.

This is going to be us:

Currently, I'm lusting after.. all of the sweaters, specifically from Old Navy.

It's finally starting to get cold around here and I'm in need of some cozy sweaters. Since I've lost roughly 30 lbs since last winter, all of my sweaters are big and baggy and not in a cute way. I think a trip to Old Navy is in order as soon as I get paid this Friday! The one above looks like it can be worn with leggings which makes it perfect basically.

Currently, I'm watching.. Hostages and Betrayal.

These are hands down my favorite new TV shows this year. As far as Hostages goes I have no idea where they are going to take the show or where it's going to go the rest of the season but right now I love it! Betrayal is an ABC show (I mean obviously..Revenge, Scandal, Betrayal) about this lady who cheats on her husband and then gets herself in a really uncomfortable position. Lots of drama and suspense and I highly recommend both shows!

Currently, I'm thinking about.. eating this delicious Pinkberry creation again.

Last night I went to Pinkberry and I got their Coconut froyo with pomegranate seeds, coconut, dark chocolate, caramel sauce, and a cookie.. and then I died. It was the best froyo creation that ever lived and now I want it again right meow. You probably want it now too.. I don't blame you.

That's all I got. Can we do something about the fact that it's only Tuesday? I WISH.

Don't forget to come back tomorrow and tell us about your 21st birthday.. I can't wait to read some crazy stories!

Tweet This, Tweet That.. The Link-Up

Hi Lovies!

It's here, it's here. Well yes, it's Friday.. but also it's time for all of you to pick out your favorite tweets and link-up for the Twitter party! Are you excited? I'm excited and I can't wait to see what you guys come up with.

Just an FYI..
People sometimes ask how I am embed my tweets, and it's super easy! When you're on the desktop version of Twitter and you see a tweet you like, at the bottom right is a button that says "More...". Click the button and hit "Embed Tweet". It will bring up a code and you place it in the HTML screen of Blogger. It will show up as text in the Compose screen, but if you preview or publish the post they will show up as an embedded tweet. Easy peasy.

In case you're new around here or missed out earlier, every week time I feel like it I round up my favorite things from Twitter land and post them for all of you along with my commentary.

How is she so dang good at the one liners? Someone tell me this.

You forgot Taco Bell, this is me singing to Taco Bell.

Celebrity you wish you could see their selfies.. Ready, set, go! Taylor Swift. Oh come on, you know it would be good.

Not really, but LOLZ.

Oh my poor heart, it can't handle no more Jesse Pinkman.

Aren't we all though?

Wait, Skittle and Diet Coke are part of the Paleo diet? Sign me up.

I'm sorry. Who made Sober October a thing and why would they do that?

If someone ever asks me to go to a gluten free restaurant, I will respond with a big fat NO.

Whoever said that bread crumbs add something to macaroni and cheese is seriously disturbed!

I mean maybe that's all I want in a boy.. is that bad?

Sometimes I wish I was verified on Twitter so that people would send me hate tweets and tell me they are unfollowing me.. but then I think maybe not.

I should probably say this to myself in the mirror every morning!

That's the best joke I've heard all day. Just say no to kitten heels.

Alright friends, now it's your turn! Link-up below..

These Headphones Make Me Look Awesome

Hey Loves!

As all of you know, I am obsessed with music and I listen to it probably 8-10 hours of the day. A majority of that is when I'm at work and I'm sitting at my desk listening to my beloved Spotify playlists. I also listen to music when I'm in my car and when I'm working out.

I've always used ear buds when I listen to my iPod or iPhone but I've never really liked the feel of them because they bother my ears and most of the time they don't stay in. Over the past few years, the over the ear style of headphone has been gaining popularity, but I've always felt like I wasn't cool enough to rock them. Not anymore..

Insert the Monster N-Tunes..

These things are awesome. Not only are they orange, which means that I can rep my favorite Oklahoma football team.. but they are also sturdy and have great sound. PS. They come in about 15 other colors including green, blue, and purple.

They have so many cool features too. They are HD, so the sound is phenomenal. They also utilize noise isolation so that you won't hear your annoying coworkers or the grunting guys at the gym. This is a huge plus for me!

One of the other great factors for someone clumsy like me, is that they are virtually indestructible! Hello.. that means you can drop them and they won't break. If only my iPhone was the same right?

Here's the best part for someone poor like me, they are affordable. At about half the price of some competing headphones out there, they are definitely nicer! So, they are durable, great quality, and come in fun colors for less than most headphones on the market? If I didn't have some, I would be putting these babies on my Christmas list for sure!

I like to think that they make me look pretty awesome. Am I right?
