Designer of the Week #4- Jason Wu

In honor of his ahhhh-mazing Target collection premiering this week, I have chosen the adorbs Jason Wu as this week's designer. I for one think it's incredible that he was given this opportunity after only really being in the fashion scene since 2006.

Wu is Taiwanese-American, growing up in both Canada and the US after being born in Taiwan. He got his start at age 16, designing a line of toy dolls. Wu later went to Parson's school in New York City and interned at Narciso Rodriguez.

His first collection debuted in 2006 and he won Fashion Group International's Rising Star award in 2008. That same year he was nominated for the extremely prestigous Vogue Fashion Fund award.

One of Wu's most famous celebrity clients is the First Lady, Michelle Obama. She wore one of his gowns at  the President's inauguration and again on the cover of Vogue magazine. This isn't a surprise seeing as how she was introduced to the designer through Andre Leon Talley, Vogue's editor-at-large.

While his Target line is a bit of a sore subject for me at the moment.. (I had no luck getting any of pieces) I am still willing to show you some of my favorites!

I was lusting over the pleated black skirt, blush and mustard stripe dress, blush sheer blouse, white blouse with black bow, and of course the adorable cat t-shirt. This was one of the only Target collaborations that I truly loved almost every single piece! SO wearable and fun.

I refuse to go to Ebay to buy any of the items so maybe I'll get lucky and they will send another shipment. Crossing my fingers..

Last but certainly not least..
Seeing as how New York Fashion Week is in just a few short days I thought I would let you guys in on a little secret.. Jason Wu's show will be streaming live via Nordstrom THIS Friday the 10th. You can see it here. I know I'll be watching!

Cheers to New York Fashion Week.. one of my favorite times of the year :)
